Immanuel's Temple Leadership

Bishop and Elect Lady Owens
Bishop Phillip E. Owens, D.D.
Elect Lady Patricia A. Owens, D.D.

Prophet Phillip E. Owens, and his wife, Prophetess Patricia A. Owens, have combined ministry and marriage for over 30 years. In 1978, Prophet Owens received the call to the office of a Prophet; Prophetess Owens received her call as Prophetess in 1993.

Together they served faithfully in their local church and community in various capacities including Chaplain of the Ingham County Juvenile Home; Registrar for the C.H. Mason Bible College; and Campus Ministers at Michigan State University for over 11 years as well as traveling throughout the state and surrounding states in evangelism work.

In 1988, in obedience to God’s command, they founded Immanuel’s Temple Community Church, a non-denominational, interracial ministry based in Lansing, Michigan. This full gospel ministry, renowned for holiness and sound doctrine; preventive ministry, and the power of the Holy Ghost, has extended from a local and regional work and is now seen weekly throughout the nation and around the world via broadcasts on the Word Network.

In 2005, they were recommended for and subsequently awarded honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degrees. In 2007, at the word of the Lord, the ministry moved into its second chapter of international ministry under the banner ofImmanuel’s Temple Systems of Church. In November of 2007, with a mandate from God, Prophet Owens and Prophetess Owens formally stepped into the Bishopric which God foreordained and planted the first sister church of the ministry in Las Vegas, Nevada. They continue the work of the Lord in two locations and two time zones.

Church History

On the first Sunday of June 1988, Prophet Phillip E. Owens and Prophetess Patricia A. Owens stepped into the pastorate in obedience to the command of God. At their home, with only the family of four in attendance and a meager offering, they began a new work which Godnamed Immanuel’s Temple Community Church. The work grew quickly, quadrupling on the next Sunday and growing to over a 100 before the end of that year. The hallmark of the ministry was holiness, deliverance and sound doctrine – building God an army of strong saints.

Despite the rented halls and lack of amenities of most churches, the ministry grew rapidly fanned by the God-sent leaders and their love for the people of God, the church and God’s power was demonstrated at every single service. And the real work began – training in holiness, sanctification and faithfulness.

In January of 1990, the Lord called our Pastor off the job and into full-time ministry and when he obeyed God, the ministry continued to grow and mature.

By July of that year, the ministry began officially to build an edifice to facilitate the growth of the ministry. By the end of the year miraculously 20 acres of land directly west of the church was purchased. Then began the lengthy process of working with architects to build a church.

In 1992, the ministry branched out into the community more and more through evangelistic work in the city as well as Detroit, Albion andSouth Bend, Indiana as well as street meetings and other outreaches. The pledges for building continued to grow as the goal was to build debt-free.

It was in 1993 we received two extraordinary words concerning our First Lady – she will preach the Word all over the world and she is nowProphetess Owens.

A special addition was added to the ministry in 1996 – Phillip Elijah Josiah Owens –born on Friday, March 29, 1996.

By 1997 we were moving closer and closer to groundbreaking and building the Temple. It was on October 26, 1997 God gave us our groundbreaking. We planted His word and consecrated the land for the Temple.

The year 1999 brought us into our Temple on December 19, 1999 – we crossed over from Plumber’s Hall to the Temple debt-free. Our subsequent open house and dedication followed the following year as the ministry continued to grow and grow. We moved closer and closer to what God promised us.

The ministry began to set forth ministers to assist in the work. Our Pastor received the gift of a shofar in 2001 and began to blow it monthly to bring Jacob home. We continued to get confirmations of God’s will for us in ministry trips in 2002 and 2003 including international exposure on the Trinity Broadcasting Network and conferences in Memphis, TN and St. Louis, MS. In addition, the following year we moved to an international audience on the Word Network, TCT and Streaming Faith.

During 2005, our Pastor and First Lady were awarded honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degrees as a direct result of exposure on the Word Network.

As they did in 1988, so did they in 2006 when God revealed an extension of His will and purpose concerning the name and the direction of the ministry. The name of the ministry was changed to Immanuel’s Temple Systems of Church. In addition, our leaders formally stepped into the Bishopric which God had ordained and confirmed from other witnesses. Lastly, God began to prepare the ministry for an expansion – a sister church.

So it was in November of 2007 that the first sister church of the ministry was planted in Las Vegas,NV. On November 5, 2007, the ministry traveled to Las Vegas, NV for the official planting of a “sister” church and the first church under the Bishopric of Prophet Phillip E. Owens and Prophetess Patricia A. Owens. The first service on November 7, 2007 found us on our knees embracing the will of God and moving forward toward all He planned for the ministry.

The ministry began in Lansing, Michigan with a family of four, continues now in two locations and two time zones, ministering to millions upon millions as the Lord has ordained.
